21:15Batteries

After sunset, the battery takes over.

A home battery stores what your panels make at noon and gives it back in the evening or during an outage. Here is what it can and cannot run.

02:10Outage test

The power is out. What keeps running?

Pick a battery size and switch things on or off. The hours update with real arithmetic: usable kWh divided by the load.

Battery size
What keeps running

Runs for about

0 hours

Assumptions: 90 % of the battery is usable, the draw is an average over time (a fridge cycles on and off), the outage starts with a full battery and no sun recharges it. A big AC load can need more inverter power than one battery delivers; we check that at the survey.

18:00How it works

Three ways to run a battery.

  1. 01

    Backup

The battery keeps a reserve for outages and only covers essentials when the grid goes down.

  2. 02

    Evening shift

Noon surplus is stored and used after sunset, when power from the grid usually costs the most.

  3. 03

    Both

Most of our customers set a reserve of about a third and let the rest work every evening.

19:30Honest sizing

Not every house needs one.

If you rarely lose power and use most of your electricity in daylight, the panels alone may be the better buy. We show you both versions with prices and let you decide.
